Dr. Amina Mohammed, a candidate for the African Union Chair, requested support from the Namibian Head of State – ahead of the election in January. Dr. Mohammed, from Kenya, who is currently on vacation in Swakopmund, paid a courtesy visit to President Hage Geingob.

Urban and Rural Development Ministry handed over 16 completed social houses in Khorixas and Otavi recently. Minister Sophia Shaningwa says government is working hard to address the country’s housing backlog.

Sixty five fatalities were recorded on national roads from 22 November to 26 December 2016. This shows a reduction of 23% compared to 80 fatalities recorded during the same period in 2015.
