The woman who was found dead in the early hours of Tuesday behind the single quarter’s Engen service station has been identified as Lucille Lorraine Fredericks. Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi confirmed this to NBC news this afternoon.
Aid agencies are withdrawing staff from South Sudan’s Upper Nile region. That follows the killing of three aid workers last week. At least 82 humanitarian staff have been killed in South Sudan since civil war broke out in December 2013.
President Hage Geingob says Namibia’s economic growth would require skilled personnel. The Head of State wants institutions of higher learning to equip students with qualifications that are tailor-made for the job market. The Namibia Red-Cross Society has distributed non-food items to flood victims relocated to Namalubi Camp B in the Zambezi Region. The items include water containers, mosquito bed nets as well as water purifying tablets.

The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture is currently conducting research on whether to either reduce or increase the academic intervals for schools. The Minister, Katrina Hanse-Himarwa said the government is considering whether to introduce a quarter academic year or even a two semester system.
The Directorate of Disability Affairs in the Office of the Vice President received a donation of 20 wheelchairs worth more than N$100 000. The Mayor of Smallingerland Municipality in the Netherlands, Tjeered Van Bekkum, handed over the donation.
