World Red Cross Day observed

May 8 marks World Red Cross Day, in recognition of the contribution and achievements of millions of volunteers and staff around the world, for their commitment to humanitarian assistance. Across the world, disasters are increasing in complexity, and humanitarian needs are vast, as more lives are being destroyed by armed conflicts, violence, and climate change.
