SPYL Central Committee resolves that party presidency should not be contested

The just ended Swapo Party Youth League Central Committee meeting resolved that the position of Party President will not be contested at the upcoming congress later this year. The Youth league had a marathon meeting deliberating on a number of issues, which include a call for continuity of leadership in the Swapo party.

50 000 people live as backyard squatters in Walvis Bay

The Walvis Bay Municipality says the number of backyard squatters at the town has quadrupled over the past 19 years. There were only 9 000 people living in backyard shacks at the town in 1998 but the figure today stands at 50 000 people.

Unemployed youth in Oshana receive sponsorship for skills development

A total of 49 unemployed youth in the Oshana Region received sponsorship of over N$150 000 from the Regional Governor’s Skills Development Programme.
