Members of the Junior National Council have applauded Namibia for starting to introduce laws and regulations aimed at protecting the rights of Namibian children.

Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila says there is a need to accelerate the pace at which the Decentralisation Policy is being implemented. She was responding to questions from NUDO parliamentarian, Meundju Jahanika, in the National Assembly.

Protection of coastal waters, against damaging marine pollutants will be tightened once the National Marine Pollution Contingency Plan, comes into effect. The plan replaces the ‘National Oil Spill Contingency Plan’ of 2007, and is aimed at providing instruments, to manage marine pollution risks.
