Minister of Information and Communication Technology has pledged to achieve 100% internet coverage in Namibia during his tenure. Tjekero Tweya was speaking during the launch of the Namibia Internet Governance Forum in Windhoek.

The United Nations urges governments to thoroughly interrogate the issue of internet service providers to ensure they are not blocking websites and slowing down connectivity deliberately as well as overcharging. UN Resident Coordinator says this and other issues related to access to information should be debated.

Information and Communication Technology Minister Tjekero Tweya urged broadcast managers at the Southern African Broadcasting Association gathering to enhance their capacity in addressing challenges facing the SADC region. Tweya made the remarks at the opening of the fifth Africa and Digitalisation Conference and 26th Annual General Conference of SABA underway in Windhoek.

African member states are divided on whether to demand for a veto seat or rather for a mere permanent representation on the United Nations Security Council. Namibia and some countries want a veto seat – which is the highest authority of the UN Security Council.
