Human Rights Lawyer Norman Tjombe is demanding that the Council stop the demolition of houses immediately. Acting on instructions of two affected residents, Tjombe says the action of the Town Council is unlawful and reminiscent of the treatment of black people in the years prior to independence.

The Ministry of Environment and Tourism is investigating the deaths of 53 hippopotamuses in the Bwabwata National Park in north east Namibia.
