The Presidency has announced new changes to the security detail of President Hage Geingob. One of the main changes to the President’s security detail will be an increase in the motorcade following recommendations of a security audit. The changes are within the legal provisions for a sitting Namibian Head of State.

A 26-year-old man, Unaaro Mbemukenga, who confessed to killing Manfred Karl Hartmann at Swakopmund remains in police custody. Mbemukenga made his second appearance in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 November 2017 but his case was postponed to the 5 February 2018 for further police investigation.
