The Independent Midwives Association of Namibia (IMANA) wants more training sessions to educate the public on the roles of nurses and midwives. IMANA Chairperson Hilma Shikwambi said this during the International Midwives’ Day in Windhoek.

Namibia’s Vice President Nangolo Mbumba said government will always support and promote poverty eradication programmes; he made the remarks at the annual Mayoral Gala Dinner in Walvis Bay. The annual Mayoral Relief Fund is aimed at assisting vulnerable and destitute community members at the town.
