The late Theo-Ben Gurirab’s long time teacher at the famous Augustineum Training College says he is proud of the work his student has done for the country. The college was based at Okahandja during colonial times, meant to train black Namibians for jobs that were considered inferior.

The Zambezi Regional Governor, Alufea Sampofu, says the political situation in the region is calm despite recent activities by some residents campaigning to secede the region from Namibia.

Former Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Speaker of the National Assembly, Theo-Ben Gurirab has been buried at the Heroes Acre. Gurirab died last Saturday in Windhoek. He was 80.
