Minister of Education, Arts and Culture Katrina Hanse-Himarwa tabled a new Basic Education Bill in the National Assembly. The bill aims to promote and protect the rights of learners, to provide for the establishment of the National Advisory Council for Education as well as the regional education forum.

Air Namibia will need about N$3 billion if it is to become a self-sufficient airline. This was revealed during a consultative meeting with a parliamentary committee in Windhoek.

Finance Minister Calle Schlettwein has dismissed assertions that government’s Targeted Intervention Program for Employment and Economic Growth (TIPEEG) was a ‘total failure’. Schlettwein was responding to remarks made by Popular Democratic Movement President, McHenry Venaani.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources, wants communities in the Kavango Zambezi Trans-frontier Conservation area, to strengthen cross border participation of fish resource management. The Permanent Secretary, Dr Moses Maurihungirire made the call during the opening of the Fisheries Regional Stakeholders meeting at Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region.

China plans to set up greenhouses at Divundu and Mayara in Kavango East and West respectively. This all to encourage the youth to take up gardening. Ambassador Zhang Yiming revealed this during the handover ceremony of the Ambassador’s Scholarships Programme at Rundu.
