It is of great significance and importance that Namibia’s history is truthfully and objectively expressed, says President of the South West Africa National Union (Swanu). Tangeni Iyambo made these remarks on Monday in an interview with Nampa on the sidelines of the commemoration of the International Human Rights Day and National Women’s Day.
As Namibia marks 70 years since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights the nation should redouble its efforts towards promoting awareness about human rights the Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, Doreen Sioka said.
Residents of the Erongo Region commemorated International Human Rights Day on Monday with a request to all local authorities to provide land to women. Residents observed Human Rights Day, which coincides with Namibia Women’s Day, at Henties Bay.

The Khomas Region recorded the highest human rights violations against Lesbians Gays, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT). This is according to a study compiled by Our Voices – a project that works on decreasing discrimination and promote laws that protect LGBT members of communities.
