Kavango West Governor Sirkka Ausiku has called on the ministries of Environment and Agriculture to meet with farmers and find a solution to illegal harvesting of timber. Ausiku says using the media platforms to pronounce the ban on timber cutting will not solve the problem.

SADC governments have been called upon to adopt measures to mitigate the effects of climate change as natural disasters such as drought and floods persist in the region. This was the call by delegates to the meeting of ‘SADC Ministers responsible for Agriculture, Food Security, Fisheries and Aquaculture’, held in Windhoek.

The popularity of social media has been accompanied by a worrying trend, of people targetted for online harassment, threats or embarrassment, otherwise known as cyber-bullying. Namibia too has not been spared. A panel discussion on cyber-bullying was held at the University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Windhoek.

High cost of animal feed has led to a young farmer from Outapi in the Omusati Region planting sorghum for his cattle’s survival. David Natangwe started with dairy farming. However, feeding the animals was a struggle due to severe drought as a bale of dried fodder could cost N$950.
