The Namibian Police’s Inspector General said the Defence Force will continue to participate in Operation Kalahari Desert, despite the public outcry. Lieutenant General Sebastian Ndeitunga was speaking during the operation’s parade at the Israel Patrick Iyambo Police College in the capital today.

The National Council Standing Committee on Habitat is hopeful that interventions by the Ministry of Environment in preventing human-wildlife conflict in Daures Constituency will help ease the situation. More than 35 elephants are causing havoc and damage to properties in the area.

Founding President Sam Nujoma has appealed to Government to set up large scale desalination plants as the main water source for Namibia. Nujoma says water supply is a national issue which needs to be addressed, hence there is a need to set up desalination plants at Swakopmund, Lüderitz and Mowe Bay near Kunene River.

Farmers in the Karasburg East Constituency have called on the Government to allow them to relocate to resettled farms that are underutilized. The farmers said this will greatly assist them to save their livestock during the drought.
