Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila has asked the public to identify people needing food aid. She made the call in response to questions by Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) MP Vipuakuje Muharukua in the National Assembly.

SWAPO in the Khomas Region has warned its members against associating with independent candidates.

Namibia and Angola have reiterated their commitment towards the implementation of agreements that would benefit the citizens of the two countries. The commitment was made by senior officials at the fifth Session of the Namibia-Angola Joint Commission of Cooperation which started in Windhoek.

President Hage Geingob will undertake regional assessment missions on the drought situation and hold town hall meetings countrywide as from Thursday. The first of these meetings start in the Omaheke Region.

The Mobile Telecommunications Limited has donated N$750 000 towards drought relief to Namibia National Farmers Union and the Namibia Agricultural Union. The amount will be split between the two unions.

Roads infrastructure remains one of the biggest challenges in the Kavango West Region. Being 99% rural the majority of the region’s residents are still finding it difficult to travel around for either services or transportation of their goods.

A brick-making project initiated by the Office of the Vice President for the construction of permanent structures by the Wayawaya San Community in the Zambezi Region has come to a halt. The project launched at the end of April this year was meant to uplift the living conditions of the San community.

Approximately 18 400 registered voters are expected to cast their votes in the Oshakati East Constituency Councillor election, later this year. Close to 1 400 residents from the constituency registered during the supplementary registration of voters which ended last week.
