Environment and Tourism Minister Pohamba Shifeta says the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) needs SADC more than it needs CITES. A man who killed his girlfriend at Walvis Bay over the weekend appeared in the Magistrate’s Court. Haihambo Phillipus Hafeni, aged 54, allegedly killed his girlfriend, Hanguwo Otilie Mwateuvi, with a kitchen knife.

A German company is donating a solution that kills microorganisms which cause Hepatitis E to residents of Walvis Bay and Swakopmund. The 20 000 bottles will be distributed to residents in the DRC informal settlement in Swakopmund and Twaloloka settlement in Walvis Bay for the next four months.

The Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations donated 90 tons of drought relief aid to destitute farmers at Farm Du Plessis, situated 90 kilometres outside Gobabis. The donation forms part of plans by FAO to enhance productivity, lessen the burden of farmers and government and avoid livestock losses.
