The new German ambassador to Namibia, Herbert Beck says consultations on the Herero/Nama Genocide between Namibia and Germany are confidential. Beck said this when he met the leader of the official opposition, Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) McHenry Venaani.

Namibia University of Science and Technology’s (NUST) Student Representative Council has vowed to ensure that students receive the necessary support to complete their studies. The university’s SRC president Lilian David said this at the opening of the academic year in Windhoek.

The Deputy Minister of Disability Affairs has urged the public and private sectors to consider people with disabilities for employment. Alexia Manombe-Ncube made the call during a meeting with students with disabilities who are struggling to find employment after graduating in different fields from Botswana’s Limkokwing University.

The SAGA Seafood Namibia and the operating company for Icelandic fishing company, Samherji had agreed to remunerate fishermen for the two-weeks that they did not work. Employees will also receive their February salaries, while the union and management discuss their exit packages.

About 13 000 learners and students from highly populated regions across the country were assisted under the Namibia National Students Organisation’s(NANSO) Access to Education Campaign.
