Former deputy bishop of the Evangelical Luthern Church in the Republic of Namibia (ELCRN) Paul Hatani Kisting appeared in the Mariental Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

The Namibian Broadcasting Cooperation(NBC) has again offered to give coverage to political parties and independent candidates contesting in the by-elections at Ojtiwarongo and Opuwo constituencies next month. This is in line with the corporation’s policy guideline on the coverage of elections.

The Windhoek City Council has warned residents of the Moses Garoeb Constituency against the illegal occupation of unserviced land saying the move is against its settlement policies. This follows after residents called on their councillor and the City of Windhoek to allocate plots to them, even if they are unserviced.

The Students Union of Namibia (SUN) wants the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture to increase the Universal Primary Education Fund for learners by 160%. Affirmative Repositioning (AR) activist Job Amupanda has declared that they will commemorate the 1904-08 Nama and OvaHerero Genocide, the first genocide of the 20th century, on 2 October every year. This follows a consultative meeting between AR activists and Ombara Otjitambi of the OvaHerero Traditional Authority, Vekuii Rukoro, on Tuesday.
