South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa has imposed a travel ban on high risk countries. This includes Italy, Iran, China, the UK, the US, Germany. Schools will be closed from 18 March until after the Easter weekend. Gatherings of more than 100 people are also prohibited.
The Ministry of Health and Social Services was experiencing technical difficulties with the newly introduced toll-free number for suspected Coronavirus cases. The situation has now been rectified, and the ministry’s executive director is pleading with the public to only use the number for its intended purpose.
