Prime Minister visits relocated flood victims in the north

Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila visited more than over 2 000 people who were relocated from Oshoopala and Oneshila informal settlements to the town’s Ehenye Extension 11. Kuugongelwa-Amadhila hands over first land hold titles in Oshakati

More than 300 residents of Oshakati’s Onawa Informal Settlement became owners of fully serviced plots, under the Flexible Land Tenure Systems project. The new system provides affordable security of tenure to people living in informal settlements, with the aim of establishing a formal tenure registration, parallel to the current freehold tenure registration system.

NAMPOL suspend visits to trial-awaiting inmates

Most ministries have put in place measures to ensure that staff and the public are protected against the virus. The Namibian Police have announced the suspension of visits to trial-awaiting inmates, alcohol breathalyzers by traffic officers and the taking of fingerprints, which will only be done in emergency cases.

Chinese Embassy donates testing kits to Health Ministry

The Chinese Embassy in Namibia has donated 1 000 COVID-19 testing kits to the Ministry of Health and Social Services. Chinese Ambassador in Namibia, Zhang Yiming says, the equipment is accurate quick-testing kits and can detect the coronavirus in 10 minutes, using a blood sample.
