59-year-old farmer was allegedly attacked by one of her employees in the early hours of Sunday morning on her farm in the Otjozondjupa Region. Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha said the incident occurred at around 04h00 on Farm Fokshop, situated approximately 80 kilometers east of Grootfontein. The attacker threw objects at the farmer’s head and body in an act of ambush, said Mbeha, adding that the farmer sustained minor injuries. She then fired two warning shots in the air before discharging a third one which hit the 53-year-old suspect in his right leg and right arm. Mbeha said the motive behind the attack is still unknown, but added that the farm-worker is said to have lived on the farm with his family for many years. The suspect was arrested Sunday morning after being found hiding in the bushes where he had attempted to take cover.
