Close to five billion people, or about 70% of the world’s population, lack access to safe, affordable, surgical, obstetric and anaesthesia, or SOA care. This was revealed by Professor Emmanuel Makasa, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Zambia to the United Nations at a pre-meeting on focal persons for surgical care, ahead of the SADC Ministers of Health meeting in Windhoek.
