Retired Deputy Commissioner Angula Amulungu was laid to rest at Ombafi Village in the Omusati Region today. Born in 1958 at Ombafi, Amulungu was hospitalised at Gobabis State Hospital in the Omaheke Region due to high blood pressure on 26 December last year. He died on 29 December. Amulungu went into exile in 1977 where he studied cinematography, development studies and management, and underwent military training. One of his duties was to film PLAN soldiers in the battle fields. The veteran of the liberation struggle was a dedicated videographer who accompied Swapo leaders on many assignments. He joined the Safety and Security Ministry in 1990 with a rank of Police Chief Inspector. In 2011 he was promoted to Police Deputy Commissioner. In 2016 he became the Commandant of the Pius Joseph Kaundu Police Training Centre in the Omaheke Region, a position he held until his retirement in September last year. He will be remembered for the principals of law and order which he stood for and maintained. He will also be remembered for the contribution he made through information dissemination aimed at promoting unity and nation building.
