The Presidency says Namibians should value efforts President Hage Geingob is making to uplift their country in trips abroad. Its spokesperson, Dr Alfredo Hengari said all foreign trips Geingob had undertaken have been for Namibia’s benefit and that of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), he chairs. He stressed that the president is required to represent national interests and all the SADC member countries at global fora that decide on the politics and economic issues impacting the country and Southern Africa. Hengari urged the media to play an important role in educating the public about the role in bringing development the president’s international visits play for both entities. He made the call in an interview with NBC News in Windhoek yesterday. His remarks follow Dr Geingob’s return from the African Union General Assembly held in Ethiopia, after recent media reports about the cost involved in the foreign trips.
