A memorial service for Namibia’s former Ambassador to Germany and Swapo Party political activist Hanno Rumpf will take place on Friday. The memorial service will start at 15h00 in the Christus Kirche in Windhoek. In a message of condolences, the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa says, the late Rumpf was not only a gentle giant but an intellectual as well. Nandi-Ndaitwa said in a statement that the late Rumpf was through his career a consummate diplomat and skillful negotiator who served the country with distinction as ambassador to Germany and the European Union in Brussels. Ambassador Rump’s legacy as a tireless advocate in the fight against injustice and independence, Nandi-Ndaitwa says will not be forgotten. Since his retirement in 2015, Rumpf continued to impart his vast knowledge and diplomatic expertise to the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation and served as a member of the Namibia Association of Retired Ambassadors until the time of his death The burial will be a private ceremony.
