Dr Nickey Iyambo was the first black postmaster between 1962 to 1963 before he fled into exile in 1964. The late Iyambo was one of the longest-serving Cabinet ministers, having served in six ministerial positions between 1990 to 2015. The Swapo stalwart also became the first person to hold the title of Vice President on 21 March 2015 following a Constitutional amendment. The late Dr Iyambo retired in 2018.
