Namwater has started pumping water from Olushandja/Etaka dam to Uuvudhiya for animal consumption. The exercise is in response to the drought situation especially in Oshana and Omusati were animals have been travelling long distances in search of water. Oshanas have dried up due to poor rainfall. Livestock farmers have been pleading with Namwater to pump water from Calueque dam in Angola to rescue the situation. Through its internal source, the water utility has put aside over N$2 million to handle the crisis. The water is now flowing towards Otamanzi constituency and it’s expected to reach Uuvudhiya constituency in August filling up different wells and earthdams along the way.
