Namibia’s Ambassador to China, Elia Kaiyamo says the arrival of the first batch of Namibian beef in China is a testament to the existing ‘win-win’ cooperation relationship that exists between the two countries. Kaiyamo made this observation on Monday during a ceremony while welcoming the first batch of 21 tonnes of Namibian beef in Shijiazhuang in the Hebei Province in China. He assured that the high-quality taste of Namibian beef stems from the livestock being free-range and hormone-free. Kaiyamo added that Namibian beef is a highly sought-after product locally and overseas, with 9 500 tonnes of beef exported to the European Union annually, about 1 600 tonnes to the Norwegian market and 17 000 tonnes to South Africa. He further added that Namibia does not only have the world-class beef steaks but many other great products, including a vast variety of seafood, quality fruits, minerals as well as breathtaking natural and cultural landscape. In 2016 Namibia and China signed a milestone agreement for A-grade beef to enter the largest consumer market in the world. The first batch of Namibian beef arrived on Sunday in China.
