President Hage Geingob and First Lady, Monica Geingos arrived in Yokohama, Japan for the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) starting on Wednesday. TICAD, an initiative by the Japanese government, focus on partnership between the Asian country and the African continent both in public and private sectors. This year, the conference will be attended by over 4 000 government and private sector leaders, will explore ways to strengthen ties between Japan and different African countries through investment programmes. President Geingob is expected to address plenaries to market Namibia as an investment destination and hold talks with Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on various areas of cooperation. Geingob’s delegation includes Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Trade Minister Tjekero Tweya, Fisheries Minister Bernhardt Esau, Economic Planning Minister Obeth Kandjoze and Tom Alweendo, the Minister of Mines and Energy. Deputy Ministers of Higher Education and Public Enterprises, Becky Ndjoze-Ojo and Veikko Nekundi and advisors in the Presidency are also part of the delegation.
