The City of Windhoek officially launched the eighth edition of the Windhoek Jazz Festival, which will take place on 2 November, at the Independence Stadium. Patron of the festival, Katrina Hanse-Himarwa launched the festival on Thursday in Windhoek. She said that the event has become synonymous with excellence, innovation and top class entertainment. Hanse-Himarwa further stated that the hosting of the Windhoek Jazz festival continues to significantly contribute to the upliftment of the city’s status as a diverse, vibrant and arts-friendly city. The line-up for this year’s festival will be headlined by legendary South African singer Yvonne Chaka-Chaka. Also performing are: Ugly Creatures Vusi Nova Garth Taylor Rose Black Sean K Dan Shout William Petersen FuJazz Band and Alistair and the Swingers Band Also speaking at the launch City of Windhoek chief executive officer Robert Kahimise applauded sponsors for investing in the festival despite the current economic slowdown. Tickets will cost N$250.
