Nangula Geingos’ charity Patty’s Heart Foundation hosted an awards gala dinner on Wednesday night in Windhoek. The dinner was held to honour ‘Heroes in the Community’ who go the extra mile to serve others without expecting an incentive. Vice President Nangolo Mbumba, at the awards ceremony, praised the late Patty Geingos, describing her as “an African with a special heart” and a hard working individual who cared for others and held social responsibility dear to her heart. Mbumba paid tribute to the late Patty Geingos and reminisced about the good old days. The former wife of President Hage Geingob died late 2014 after battling pancreatic cancer. This prompted the establishment of Patty’s Heart Foundation by her daughter Nangula. Over 40 community heroes were awarded and honoured at the event, they included among others: Ouma Karises, owner of Mother’s Voice; Hilia Nambinga, direcror of Hope Initiative; Claudia Namises of Olindi Place of Safety and Tate Buti and Stella for their social responsibilities a musicians. Geingos, at the event, encouraged social influencers and business people from all walks of life, including invited guests, to take on social responsibilities. The charity earlier on Wednesday visited the Windhoek Central Hospital Cancer Ward to hand over some daily necessities for cancer patients and to spend some time with the patients. Some notable individuals who attended the award ceremony were Princess Sthandiwe Mthuli from the Zulu Kingdom.
