Independent presidential candidate Dr Panduleni Itula says once elected into power he will reduce the Cabinet to only 12 ministers and at least 40% of those ministers will be under the age of 35. Dr Itula said this during the launch of his manifesto Saturday in the capital. The former Swapo Party School lecturer says his Cabinet will constitute business experts, academics and technocrats identified on merit regardless of their political attachment. Some of his promises to voters include delivery of land for farming and housing and resources to indigenous people. This he says he will do by instituting a referendum against the sale of land to foreigners. Itula says he will make it his priority to address the lack of sanitation, water and electricity in all settlements, especially the remote areas. His other plans include an equitable social protection scheme, enhance vocational education and address unemployment through what he termed a verifiable job-seekers allowance. The presidential challenger also vowed to fight corruption and retrieve billions lost through corruption. Gender equity and environmental protection are also on his list of issues to be addressed. The dentist, who still holds SWAPO membership called on all Namibians, regardless of their political affiliations, to vote for him saying that he is the right vehicle to change and distribution of wealth without discrimination.
