SWANU President Dr Tangeni Iijambo says his party plans to decriminalise cannabis, homosexuality and fight for the rights of all marginalised groups. “Human rights are indivisible, we have to accept and protect everyone,” he said. Iijambo further says that Namibia needs to collectively deepen the human rights culture, adding that LGBTI people have been long marginalised within our communities and by the government, including open hostility and violence. “We know our society is conservative and we are not planning to impose this on anyone, but SWANU is a trailblazer and we are ready to start conversations on this issue” Speaking to NBC News, SWANU President said that cannabis is a multi-billion dollar industry and that it has the potential to boost the countries economy. He says the current administration has been ignoring the plight of cannabis users, and we need to do deep research and make our decisions based on findings from this research.
