The Ministry of Environment and Tourism (MET) has inaugurated infrastructure worth N$80 million in Luderitz today. Minister Pohamba Shifeta said the infrastructure will enable the ministry to effectively and efficiently manage the Tsau //Khaeb (Sperrgebiet) National Park and it’s support zone. The infrastructure consist of 25 staff houses, a range office, renovated MET offices in Oranjemund, Rosh Pinah, Luderitz and Aus and eight signage walls around strategic entry points to the park. The development was funded by the German government through MET’s Namibia National Park programme. At the same occasion, Shifeta also launched the National Policy on Mining and Prospecting in Protected Areas and the Namib Horses Management Plan.
