The arrangements for the funeral of Otjiwarongo Regional Councillor Julius Neumbo, who died in a road accident on 10 December, have been put on hold. A statement issued by Otjozondjupa Governor Otto Ipinge, on Tuesday, said the late Neumbo’s family decided to put on hold all funeral arrangements until his widow, Hendrina Neumbo, is discharged from the Roman Catholic Hospital in the capital. Ipinge said Hendrina, who was in the car with the councillor at the time of the accident, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Windhoek for further medical attention. “She is now understood to be in a stable condition and as a result, the Neumbo family have put on hold all funeral arrangements pending the recovery of the widow,” the governor said. Neumbo died instantly after the Government vehicle he was travelling in collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle on the B1 road between Otjiwarongo and Okahandja. Police investigations in the matter continue. -NAMPA
