The Windhoek High Court Judge Justice Kobus Miller has reserved judgement to 27 December in the Fishrot corruption case. The judge said he reserved the judgment to consider arguments brought forward by both the applicants and respondents. The urgent bail application was brought to the High Court by former Fisheries Minister Bernhard Esau and his co-accused. The six accused want their warrants of arrest set aside and for the High Court to order their immediate release from custody. The six accused are Esau, former Justice Minister Sacky Shanghala, former Chairperson of the Fishcor board of directors James Hatuikulipi, Tamson Hatuikulipi, Ricardo Gustavo and Pius Mwatelulo. They have accused the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Prosecutor General of acting in bad faith by pursuing their prosecution in the Fishrot corruption case. They said their arrest and detention are unlawful. South African advocate Tembeka Ngcukaitobi and senior council William King are representing the six. The ACC, NamPol and State are represented by senior council Piet Van Wyk, Advocate Slysken Makando and Nelly Tjihahikika.
