Cabinet has approved the theme, ‘Inclusive Democracy for Sustainable Development’ for Namibia’s chairmanship of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA). IDEA works to support and strengthen democratic institutions and processes around the world to develop sustainable, effective and legitimate democracies. The theme echoes Namibia´s quest for widening inclusivity to gender equality in electives and appointments to public office, including the youth, marginalised and minority groups in the national development process.
