A earthquake, measuring 4,01 on the Richter Scale, was recorded about 80 kilometres northwest of Kamanjab, in the Kunene Region, on Wednesday morning. Since last year there have been reports of increased earthquake activities in the Kamanjab area, especially at Anker settlement. Three local seismic stations from the Namibia seismological network recorded the event and preliminary analyses were performed on this data set. A statement from the Ministry of Mines and Energy says three readings were picked up by the Geological Survey for Windhoek, Ariamsvlei and Aus. The epicentre of the event is located in the Kaoko Orogenic belt which is a regional tectonic structure
