Fugitive Chinese national, Allen Yue, has been arrested when he arrived at the Walvis Bay Airport Monday afternoon. Yue reportedly skipped town in December 2017. He failed to make a second appearance in the Walvis Bay Court on charges of corruption. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) charged Yue for contravening part of the Anti-Corruption Act. The 32-year-old Chinese national allegedly corruptly solicited or agreed to accept “gratification by agent as an inducement”. Yue, who was a site agent for Jiangsu Zhengtai Construction, the company that constructed the Dunes Mall in Walvis Bay, allegedly solicited a N$35 000 bribe from the owner of a coastal security company to process an outstanding payment. He was granted N$50 000 bail in May 2017 on condition that he reports to the police every Friday and should not leave town without informing the ACC. The accused is in police custody and is expected to appear in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court Tuesday morning.
