The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT), Mbeuta ua Ndjarakana, allayed fears that the Oscar Norich Stadium, which will host this year’s Independence celebrations, may be flooded after heavy rains overnight. Ua Ndjarakana said there is nothing to fear. The PS, who is in Tsumeb, said the area has been blessed with persistent peaceful rain overnight. The stadium was drenched in water but “we are making the necessary arrangements”. “Even if we have more rain overnight there will be no disturbance. We are grateful for the rain” He said anyone planning to come to Tsumeb should do so as the stadium will be ready to host the public. Meanwhile, crews are hard at work preparing for tomorrow’s festivities and the stadium is a hive of activity with residents milling around and enjoying the rehearsals.
