A 33-year-old woman has been stabbed to death in Windhoek’s Okuryangava neighbourhood and her boyfriend is being treated in the Katutura State Hospital after attemptig suicide. The suspect, who has two children with Teresia Shimweneni, allegedly found her at a shebeen on Onheleyiwa Street in Okuryangava. Limbandungila Women and Men Network’s member, Paulus Shekudja was home when passers-by alerted him to the incident and asked him to call emergency services. He told NBC News that several witnesses had told him that the suspect found the deceased at around 11h00 at a shebeen. Shekundja said the suspect called the deceased behind the shebeen to talk to her and her friends later found her with stab wounds and the suspect gone. Police Public Relations Head, Edwin Kanguativi confirmed that a 36-year-old male suspect was arrested, having taken battery acid in an attempted suicide at Hakahana informal settlement. Deputy Commissioner Kanguativi said the suspect was taken to hospital for treatment and is in a stable condition under police guard. Late Shimweneni’s sister, Indileni George, said the suspect’s two children, aged six and eight, are from a 12-year relationship.
