Namibia’s Helalia Johannes has won the women’s marathon at the Commonwealth Games in Australia. She finished in 2:32:40. The 37-year-old is the first woman from Namibia to win a Commonwealth gold medal in athletics. Namibia’s Lavinia Haitope ended seventh in 2:40:54 and Leena Ekandjo twelfth in 2:50:59. Johannes won Namibia’s second gold medal at the 2018 games after boxer Jonas Junius Jonas won his division on Saturday.
