The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, is expected to visit Namibia next week, on the invitation of President Hage Geingob. In a statement announcing his visit, the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation says the visit highlights the importance Namibia and the AU attach to the country’s membership and contributions to the continental union. During his visit, the AU Commission Chairperson will exchange views with President Geingob and other Namibian authorities, on key AU priorities. These would include continental integration, peace and security, and AU institutional reforms. He will also pay a courtesy visit to former President, Hifikepunye Pohamba, and is scheduled to meet with the business community.
