The Development Bank of Namibia (DBN) advises businesses hit by the recession to budget smartly and implement stringent cash flow management. DBN head of marketing and corporate communications, Jerome Mutumba said the recession is cyclical and businesses that do not plan accordingly may be hit again if they fail to strengthen their finances. He said a large number of DBN’s customers are in good financial position as a result of running their businesses properly and accumulating savings. Mutumba added that businesses built on solid foundation maintain their market share and competitiveness survive recessions. The DBN assures companies that they will help businesses that work with them and disclose challenges. Mutumba shared the advice after the DBN observed prevailing tight economic conditions in the domestic economy and challenges the country’s businesses face. The bank expressed cautious optimism given the marginal improvement shown in the quarterly economic performance by the Namibia Statistics Agency recently.
