Otjozondjupa Governor Otto Ipinge gave Government agencies involved in the Neu Sommerau resettlement farm school near Kombat 30 days to ensure that the school is operational. Ipinge said this at a consultative meeting held with the community at the farm and representatives of different Government ministries Tuesday. He told community members on the farm to clean the premises where the school, comprising four classrooms, two residential quarters and ablution facilities, is situated. The new school is expected to offer education from pre-primary to Grade 3 by January 2019. It was constructed by the Government under the Education, Arts and Culture Ministry at a cost of over N$2 million in 2016 but has been desolate due to a lack of water and electricity services. The close to 500 community members pledged to start cleaning the area as from today. Farm Neu Sommerau has about 2 000 residents who largely depend on charcoal production and livestock farming for income.
