Polling stations at the Maranatha School in Harare opened at 07h00 this morning. While some voters have been queuing since 04h00 this morning, the process seems well organised and queues are moving fast. Voters we spoke to are optimistic about the elections saying it is the first time the voting process is this good. Voters are divided according to surnames and vote in different queues making the process faster. Sixty-five-year-old Anna Nyamushonyongora was one of the first to cast her vote at the Maranatha School. While she has voted in the past elections, she says what is different this time around is that there is hope for change. Nyamushonyongora is one of the people who has been queuing since 04h00 this morning. It is the first time since Zimbabwe’s independence in 1980 that Robert Mugabe is not taking part. The nonagenarian was ousted in a bloodless coup in November 2017. Some 5,5 million voters will cast their votes to elect a president and members of parliament.
