Minister Katrina Hanse-Himarwa says it is the duty of all Namibians to make sure that the country’s culture and heritage are preserved. The Minister of Education, Arts and Culture’s remarks were made during the opening of the week-long Heritage Week in Windhoek Monday. Her speech was read on her behalf by the Education Permanent Secretary, Sanet Steenkamp. The Minister said all Namibians should play their part in preventing the extinction of Namibian cultures, instead of leaving the responsibility of promoting culture solely to heritage and cultural institutions. The annual event was initiated to promote and preserve Namibia’s natural and cultural resources. Different cultural activities will be take place around the country during the heritage week, which ends Sunday. Namibians are encouraged to visit and attend the events, organised to promote Namibia’s heritage and culture. The heritage week is held under the theme: ‘Turuganeni’, which means let us work together, in Rukwangali
