NAMCOR board chairperson Patrick Kauta has resigned from his position after serving the corporation for two years and is calling for an investigation into the corporation’s executive. In letters dated 9 October, and addressed to the Minister of Mines and Energy Tom Alweendo, the Anti-Corruption Commission and the Ministry of Finance, Kauta says a Deloitte report has unearthed alleged irregularities in procurement. He says the report the board commissioned into allegation of impropriety, against the executive management team, has been completed and provided to the procurement unit, the line Minister and the ACC. The lawyer says his resignation is meant to avoid having himself subjected to the ACC investigation.
