President Hage Geingob has congratulated Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Louise Mushikiwabo on her appointment as the new Secretary General of Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie. The group is an international organisation that brings together French speaking countries from across the world. A media statement issued on Friday by the Office of the President said Geingob conferred his congratulatory message telephonically. Mushikiwabo was elected by acclamation on Friday at Summit Erevan, Armenia and takes over the role from Michaëlle Jean of Canada. “Namibia and the Southern African Development Community look forward to working closely with the new secretary in advancing the common agenda of inclusive growth, poverty eradication and democracy,” the statement said.
