A 27-year-old Namibian man died instantly on the Swakopmund-Walvis Bay road, after the bus he was driving collided head-on with a bakkie on Saturday morning. The accident took place at around 06h00, a few kilometres from the Swakopmund bridge. According to a police report issued by Erongo Crime Investigations Coordinator of the Namibian Police Force, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu on Saturday, the deceased was trying to overtake a vehicle and in the process, hit an oncoming pick up truck on the driver’s side. The deceased, Paulus Katanga Shifafule, who was the only occupant, then lost control of his vehicle and collided with the second oncoming pick-up truck. Some occupants of the other vehicles were transported to the Swakopmund State Hospital and the Medi Clinic Cottage Private Hospital here with serious injuries, while others escaped with slight injuries. The deceased’s next of kin have been informed of his death and investigations into the matter continue. (NAMPA)
